Music student by day, writer by night, and a sometime photographer: I’m not really sure who I am, but this makes everything more interesting. Named after a cheesy Boston love song by dad, and then growing up in front of mum’s camera… I’d like to think that’s where my passion for both art forms stemmed from. I photograph because I can, because I love it – and I love it because it’s the most honest art form that I delve in.
Palahniuk wrote, “I am the combined effort of everyone I’ve ever known”, and the most influential person I’ve ever known is my mother. When it came to her preferred craft of photography, she never directly taught me anything as she didn’t want to make my work merely a clone of her own. Instead, she guided by example and crafted me into the multi-faceted and eclectic person that I am today. So this is what my five collected pieces of photography represent – little pieces of my unconventional, everyday existence. I’ve contrasted the honesty and raw emotion of film photography with some ‘polished’ digital work, as well as accompanied my personal piece with extracts from my poems.
In the duration of this exhibition I will be turning twenty years old in the absence of my family. I’d like to dedicate my work to my mother, Thank you for giving me everything, most especially your amazing “eyes” that sees things in any way but straight-forward, and my oldest friend and tormentor, the Nikon F3. And to my grandmother, You introduced me to my love of the written word and for that, thank you also.

2. Untitled 1 & 2
Sydney, 2010; Canon 50D
1. My beloved sister and mother on a bridge one evening; it is one of my favourites as it almost appears to stretch time and manipulate perspectives, whilst remaining focused on the previous moment in time.
2. A second-floor view through the curtain from a now-forgotten museum.
3. A Sonic Disposition

The power of a media pass granted me every music-lover’s dream: free access through the barrier at concerts. Photographing concerts was like combining my favourite drugs of choice, as I chased the high of capturing the atmospheric moments (often in the dark) that are otherwise lost to the world.

Our family cat has been everyone’s best friend and worst enemy. The best feet heater and the worst alarm clock. The best food recycling system and the worst mess. Much like me.
5. Duality/雙重性
2010-2011
Ilford HP5 Plus 400 B/W film; Nikon F3
Duality noun form of dual: adjective – of or pertaining to; composed of or consisting of two people, items, parts, etc., together; twofold.
Through the use of double exposure, this personal piece embodies all my lovers: music, bass, photography and a boy.
1. Double bass & lead sheet for the ballad “Round Midnight”
Part 1:
Exotic,
you’re chaotic,
his bassic distraction all night.
What are you?
The intimate
ambiguous delight.
2. 雙子與雙魚
Just the pale ale
of experience
Takes away the crooked edge.
But only when empty.
Like a sharp migraine,
you get to me.
In the secrecy of your room
Words untold and
Theories unrepeated.
Weave me
through your
shirt again.
And if, scold is the new chide
Then happily behind
those shades we hide.
For even when shuttered twice,
I fear it’s too dark,
The film of our love is
still underexposed.
3. Us
…and in those heartbeats
where we sharply inhale
with half held breath
as if pausing could freeze
perfection forever.
4. Fender Geddy Lee Jazz Bass & I
Part 2:
Neurotic,
your melodic
words are attractive(a trap to)
his soul(sole)
Emotion; make me the blame.
